SonusZen is not a treatment
Hearing loss and tinnitus have causes ranging from impacted earwax to acoustic neuroma, and several of them are treatable when caught early. SonusZen is a dietary supplement and treats none of them. Sudden hearing loss in one ear is a medical emergency: it should be assessed within days, because the treatments that help are time-critical. Do not substitute a supplement for that appointment.
Speak to a doctor first if any of these apply
- You take an anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug — garlic has a real antiplatelet effect
- You have surgery scheduled — herbal supplements are usually stopped one to two weeks beforehand
- You take blood-pressure or heart medication — hawthorn and hibiscus can add to it
- You take a prescribed diuretic, or have kidney disease — buchu and juniper are diuretics
- You are pregnant or nursing — juniper in particular is not advised in pregnancy
- You are under 18, or you have a diagnosed medical condition of any kind
Dietary supplements are regulated differently
In the United States, dietary supplements are not subject to the pre-market approval process that applies to pharmaceutical drugs. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements for safety or effectiveness before they are sold. Any badge or claim suggesting a supplement is “FDA approved” is inaccurate — what a manufacturer can legitimately state is that a product is made in an FDA-registered facility, which is a statement about the premises, not about the product. The same goes for “GMP certified”, which describes the factory's process controls.
